Monique Bryan

Monique Bryan, B.A. (Pre-med), P.A. (ASCP) and (RYT-200) fell in love with yoga in 2007 when she was introduced to her first vinyasa flow class with Martin Doluz. Over the years she has specialized as a Pathologists Assistant and dedicated her time working for The Queen's Medical Center, The Honolulu Medical Examiners Office, Castle Medical Center and Stanford University Medical Center performing clinical and forensic autopsies, supervising and training other medical professionals in pathology. In 2007 she then integrated yoga into her life and realized how yoga allowed her to access the parasympathetic nervous system through the physical body with asanas (postures) and breath.

The love she found in her own practice led her to take Teacher’s Training with the Aloha Yoga Kula in 2014, under Brigitte Snyder and Martin Doluz. She had the opportunity to serve as a teaching assistants for Brigitte Snyder (Gentle yoga), Rachel Weyenberg (Prenatal yoga) and Tataya Radke (Yin Yoga) by offering guided adjustments.

After yoga teacher training she began teaching to the crossfit community at Crossfit K Block in Kaneohe and Shogun Crossfit at Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan. And then later had  opportunities to teach yoga and travel to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Working with different bodies has enriched her understanding of the body system that is always changing and loves sharing yoga to all beings. Her down-to-earth nature offers a space of stillness, bringing awareness to the breath, while guiding students through a meditative practice. She is fascinated by the balance of yin (passivity) and yang (activity) in yoga and strives to bring this balance, along with a continuous awareness of alignment, to her classes. Her adjustments are provided by conscious hands and essential oils help students feel the intricate and subtle forces within each pose.
