Patrick Perini

Patrick Perini (RYT-200hrs) started taking yoga classes in the 90s to improve flexibility and mental presence when he was playing golf.  He found that yoga was really helpful in relaxing through the breath and focusing on the present moment. For him, this ability to not dwell in fear of what might happen or think about the past negatively is central to finding happiness and inner peace, not to mention better golf.  Patrick moved to Oahu in 2007, and first practiced yoga at Manoa Yoga Center and then at Aloha Yoga Kula.  In 2014, he completed his 200-hour teacher training through the AYK Advanced Studies Program in order to deepen his understanding and practice of yoga.  He has taken classes on Ashtanga at Purple Yoga, and workshops on Yin Yoga, Nutrition, Aroma Therapy, etc. with instructors at the Kula.

Patrick is originally from Syracuse, NY and his parents and immediate family are from Brazil.  After graduating from Syracuse in Electrical Engineering, Patrick worked for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab during which time he completed his Masters and PhD degrees in Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  He has worked in the telecommunications business the past 30 years researching and developing cellular phone technologies as well as teaching wireless communications professionally and academically.

Patrick enjoys skiing the mountains of Colorado and exploring the waters of Hawaii – he still maintains a residence in both states.  He and his wife live in Kaneohe most of the year, and enjoy teaching yoga locally on Oahu as well as attending classes from their mentors at the Kula.
